A conventional four-pipe conversion adds separate hot- and chilled-water piping so both modes are available. The PMAC approach is designed to create room-level heating and cooling flexibility while retaining the existing two-pipe loop, subject to property qualification.

It combines a hydronic coil with an inverter heat-pump circuit in the guestroom unit. Depending on design and operating conditions, the heat pump can provide the room’s requested mode when it differs from the central water loop.
